If you are used to thinking that in the modeling business everything is decided by a chiseled figure and an attractive face, then you have never heard of the profession of a hand model. But every luxury brand has a lot of advertising content in which only one part of the body is visible – the hands.

Nina Taylor is a successful British model who has devoted more than 20 years to the fashion industry, but you hardly know her by sight, because on camera she almost always works only with her hands.

One look at them is enough to understand why the world’s leading brands prefer to see Nina’s hands in their advertising. But Nina, although she has already appeared on thousands of billboards, continues to take on any advertising where she is invited, even if it is ordinary household cleaning products.

It is thanks to her hard work and professional approach that the model has retained her status as the best in this field for many years, some even call her “the Kate Moss of hand modeling.”

In her youth, Nina, although she paid attention to the beauty of her hands in comparison with the hands of other people, did not even imagine that she could make money only with them. She received a classical ballet education and saw herself as a dancer.

One day, Nina’s cousin invited her to try herself as a hand model, and it turned out that the girl had an unprecedented talent for this.

Only at first glance it may seem that for such work it is enough just to have beautiful hands. In fact, a big role is played by the ability to control them, imagine them, show graceful movements and clearly understand how the hands will look in the frame.

To exclude the possibility of losing her main source of income due to some accident, the model also decided to insure her hands for a tidy sum – about 2.5 million dollars. But considering that she can earn about $6,000 per day, this decision is completely justified.

Nina Taylor has worked with such world-famous brands as Chanel, Fendi, Jimmy Choo and Tom Ford, as well as joint photo shoots with Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett Johansson and Heidi Klum.

But what she remembers most was working with Benedict Cumberbatch: “He had to show different facial expressions. I didn’t even look at my hands, just at his different emotions – it was great!”

Some might think it’s a little sad when your hands are more famous than you, but Nina is fine with it. At the beginning of her career, she called her feelings about this “silent satisfaction”, because even if it’s just hands, it’s nice to see them on every other billboard.

But 20 years later, the model considers every advertisement with her participation primarily from the point of view of professionalism: whether the lighting is set correctly, how natural the bend of the arms is shown – and evaluates many other nuances that we are not even aware of.
