Know the Reason Behind Adam Sandler’s ‚Chalamet‘ Shout During His Oscars Sketch with Conan O’Brien

Comfortable fashion took center stage at the Academy Awards, only to quickly fade away.

During the 2025 Oscars held this past weekend, Adam Sandler, donning a vibrant baby-blue hoodie, basketball shorts, and a black-and-white Hawaiian shirt, joined forces with Conan O’Brien, the late-night icon from Brookline, Massachusetts, to humorously critique Sandler’s laid-back outfit.

„You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 am, Adam,“ O’Brien quipped.

In a playful show of mock embarrassment, Sandler then exited the event, but not before giving a brief hug to Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet and shouting his name.

While it was a funny moment, many viewers were taken back by the abrupt shout of “Chalamet,” leaving them curious about its context.

So, why did Sandler yell „Chalamet“ at the Oscars?

The playful pronunciation of Timothée Chalamet’s name echoes a joke made by Golden Globes guest Nikki Glaser, who suggested in her opening monologue that “Chalamet” sounded like something Sandler would say. Sandler’s antics at the Oscars also occurred during the opening segment.

At the Golden Globes back in January, Glaser humorously remarked that “Chalamet” was a name that “sounds like something Adam Sandler would say.” Sandler seized the moment, dramatically shouting, “Timothée ah Chalamet.”

He later referenced Chalamet again several weeks later while introducing the star’s role as host and musical guest.
