41-year-old musician Derek Wibley spoke about his support for Paris Hilton during a difficult time in her life—when an intimate video of hers was leaked online. The rock star briefly dated the 43-year-old fashionista, but soon after their romance, a video surfaced that she had filmed with her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon. In his new memoir, “Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell,” Derek recalls his reaction to that awful moment.
“Towards the end of our romance, Paris got a hint that her ex was going to release her sex tape,” Derek wrote. “She did everything she could to prevent it from going online, but about six or seven months after we broke up, that filth started to circulate. We stayed in touch after the breakup, and I reached out to her immediately. We had several sad conversations, and I heard her crying about having to tell her parents about it.”
He praised Paris, noting that she acted like a sensible person.
“It was great to see how she managed to turn this invasion of privacy into something that worked for her in the long run. Her defense of her interests is also commendable,” he said about his ex.
Rock star Wibley, now 44, writes that he and Hilton began their romance in a Los Angeles nightclub in 2003 after meeting a couple of years earlier at an MTV event. According to Wibley, after they exchanged flirtatious banter about their sweet encounter, they “had a drink” and then began kissing at a table in the club filled with showbiz stars. Derek claims he and Paris partied until 3 a.m. that night, and when they left a private party, they kissed on the hood of a vintage Porsche belonging to a famous film producer.
Paris is now married to businessman Carter Reum, and the couple has two children born via surrogacy.
